Race on over to The Wharf Marina to witness the
Running of the Chihuahuas!
The 8th Annual Running of the Chihuahuas race is back for another fun filled event! The District Wharf’s favorite Cinco De Mayo tradition will be held on May 4th from 1-5pm. Spectators will not only get to experience the race of the year but also enjoy a beer garden, local food vendors, DJs, and Cinco De Mayo themed costume contest for you and your pets!
The race itself is open to any half or full breed Chihuahuas. Guests will get to see these excited pups run for fame and glory along the pier. Some pups even dress up in theme for the race, making it even more entertaining and funny to watch.
If you have a Chihuahua you want to enter into the race, click here. The small entrance fee for your dog to run is just $30. All entry fees are donated to Rural Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to pulling dogs from high-kill rural shelters.
This is the perfect, family friendly event for Cinco De Mayo. There will plenty for the kiddos to do with a dance party on District Pier and Transit Pier when the races are done! If you want to just be with the adults, head over to the Beer Garden on District Pier featuring Corona, Corona Light, Modelo and Pacifico! When you’re ready for a bite to eat, head over to a local restaurant or check out kiosks available for food purchase.
Come enjoy all the fun of the Running of the Chihuahuas. We can’t wait to see this best race of the year!
