Oasis Marinas at Port Lorain is one of the more recent additions to our Snag-A-Slip family and it is a must visit in the new season.
Lorain, Ohio may be a small town, but it is up and coming and full of charm! Parallel to Cleveland, the town is steeped in industrial history from The Nickel Plate Railroad to the Lorain Thew Shovel Company. Even still, much of Lorain County is known for maritime activity out of Lorain Port Authority. This active commercial port is a really neat spot to watch huge ships transporting who-knows-what along the coast of Lake Erie.
While visiting Oasis Marinas at Port Lorain, you can take one of the many different trips and tours that the Lorain Port Authority offers. The Boat to the Browns trip leaves Lorain at 10:30am on specific game days and takes visitors straight into Cleveland to watch the Browns play. Guests are invited to tailgate at Black River Landing prior to kickoff – you can even store your coolers for more fun after the game. The boat leaves 1 hour after the game finishes, so when the Browns win, you’ll have some time to celebrate with the team before cast off. There is also a wine tasting cruise that departs from Black River Landing where guests can enjoy the coastal views of Loraine while sipping a variety of wines and tasting yummy appetizers.
While in Lorain, explore the Black River, a tributary flowing from Lake Erie for about 1240 stream miles. While traveling up or down the river, you’ll be met with a rich environment and maybe even see a bald eagle or two along the way!
There are extensive renovations going on in town that will soon give way to the hottest spot to hit along Lake Erie. There are still plenty of cool things to see and do in town while buildings are getting fixed up. Head into town and go to Speak of the Devil cocktail bar for a relaxing evening with friends. Visit the historical Lorain Lighthouse or Lakeview Park – the perfect spots for your new profile picture!
