2nd visit, 26-27 Jun. What is not to like about Belhaven Marina. Docks -- decent. Staff -- very helpful. Free washer/dryer with complimentary soap. Clean bathroom/shower with complimentary towels & body soap. Fuel -- excellent price comparitive to other locations. Linear dock access -- decent but you might have to 180 in the fairway to position where they place you. Access to golf cart for shopping/eating. Several eating establishments within easy walk.
A Waterway Guide User on May 20th, 2026:
Locking here was a little different than what we've done before. The lock uses vertical pipes spaced about every 80 feet, which are too far apart to use two lines at once on a boat our size (40 feet). We found the best setup was a single midship cleat line. The process was simple: take your line (that is on your cleat) behind the pipe once and bring it back to the boat. I was able to hand-hold the bitter end, but wrapping it once around a cleat for leverage may make it easier for some. The important thing is do not tie off or cleat the other end — it needs to slide freely as the boat rises or lowers in the lock. We ended up using three fenders because the current wanted to push the stern out toward the middle of the lock, which caused the mid-bow area to get a little too friendly with the wall.
A Waterway Guide User on May 1st, 2026:
We stopped in for fuel, and from a docking standpoint it was straightforward—easy approach, and the staff was right there to grab lines, which made everything go smoothly. That said, there was an "emotional support" pit bull running loose on the property. The marina owner—who is also the dog's owner—mentioned that despite professional training, it doesn't get along with other dogs and normally wears a shock collar. I've been bitten by a pit bull before, so having a dog with any history of aggression—even if only toward other dogs—allowed to roam freely and sniff around my legs and feet definitely made me uneasy. Personally, I wouldn't risk bringing my fur babies here.

Belhaven Marina is a class act. Staff was very helpful with docking and were super friendly. For one of the cheapest marinas on the ICW, they don't cheap out! The facilities were great and they even have a golf cart to take for provisioning. Our only complaint is the power pedestal was only 50 amp - would recommend going to the town dock (which is essentially at the marina) if you need 30amp. Be sure to head to ICW Brewing for a beer or two.

One of the best stops we have made! The staff were attentive and helpful. The marina is clean, well maintained, and updated! The bathrooms were fully stocked and clean, the laundry was free, and the store was an added bonus. We cannot say enough good things about this marina. Would stay here again and again!

Best value for price around! Fixed docks weathered but sturdy & safe. Owner & staff great & accommodating; low fuel price; great location right down town Belhaven; clean bathroom showers w/towels, soap & shampoo provided; laundry free with soap & dryer sheets provided; golf cart to get essentials (Food Lion); hardware store, restaurants, brewery/distillery all easy walking distance (0.1 - 0.5 mi). The only possible improvement would be if the marina had 10% off meal bill discount coupons for restaurants.

Belhaven Marina earned every one of their five stars with stellar service, fair prices and really nice accommodations. What really set them apart was Vivian's asking a friend to pick up a new VHF for me at West Marine in Washington, NC. That saved me a trip and the fare and really was nice. I am much obliged.

The Belhaven Marina staff does everything they can to make you feel comfortable and well taken care of. From our first conversation with Vivian to the attention given to us by the guys- wow! The staff at this marina- 3- gave us more attention than we have experienced at any other Marina. They hustle! The Marina is a bit weathered but every amenity is clean and updated! The laundry (free) room was fantastic- new washer and dryer- very clean. The fenders provided at the dock were so handy! The fuel price here was lowest so far in our journey $3.30- Dock $1.89 a foot. Right in town. Friendly Methodist church was two block away. Belhaven is a Norman Rockwell small town USA. Great place to stop after/-after crossing the Neuse River.

Very nice outdoor setting. Walkable to downtown with shops and restaurants. Vivian is wonderful!

Vivian from the Belhaven Marina office brought each of us a HUGE Christmas dinner and each a plate of sweets. Plus free laundry, free laundry detergent AND dryer sheets. Showers had towels available as well as shampoo. There was even a free golf cart to take to the El Mariachi restaurant to pick up our dinners to go!!

Belhaven Marina is a must stop for us when transiting the ICW. We always try to make it a two or three night visit to take advantage of a well run marina in a small town setting. Greg continually upgrades the facilities to ensure visitors have a top notch experience. Since our last visit he added a golf cart that is available to make grocery store runs easy. The bathrooms and laundry are spotless. I think they must clean them several times a day. We look forward to our next visit in the spring to enjoy Belhaven Marina's hospitality.

Have stayed here many times, Should be a PREMIER category for this exceptional Marina.
Just retuned from a season of cruising, stayed in many marinas, nothing compares with the friendless, overboard helpfulness, super cared for facilities, showers and bathrooms will put to shame many I have docked.
Greg has made exceptional improvements, added supersize fenders ball to protect the boats, widened the walkways to facilitate boarding.
Did I mention the picnic and communal areas with games like cricket etc?
And block away from hardware store and very nice eateries.
If you have not stopped here before, you should try.

Great marina with many amenities. It has been two years since we visited Belhaven last, and the town has much more now to offer. The ICW Brewery 500 ft away serves up fantastic tasting beer and other beverages. The hardware store 1/2 block down is well stocked, and a grocery store is a quick golf cart ride away. Many restaurants and other food options to choose from. A couple of fun stores to browse are here too.

Absolutely fantastic marina. They are currently rebuilding their seawall and wood walkways around the perimeter. It can get a bit rolly when the wind blows south so have lots of fenders ready. Free laundry (they provide soap) and really nice showers (they provide shampoo and such). Beer and wine in the office and several restaurants to choose from (we found the margaritas at the Mexican place). Loaner golf cart can get you to Food Lion. Nice to walk around this lovely town. Nice little marina adjacent to downtown Belhaven. Great service from the dockmaster, who met me at the nearby town dock to pump out and then helped me tie up at the marina. Very patient.
I loved the layout of the marina, with two long dock walls separated by a grassy area. My pups loved running in that grass and lounging in the shade. Very pet friendly.
There are two large bathrooms, each with a shower. Very clean, with towels, soaps, and shampoo provided. A laundry room has one washer and dryer, both free. They even have soap on hand. (This was much appreciated as both my pups got seasick on the trip down the Neuse River from Oriental.)
There's a back deck with an upper deck being constructed. Locals and transients meet in the afternoon for an informal happy hour. Lots of friendly folks, including Nick and Tracy who winter there and act as harbor hosts.
And did I mention the good fuel price for diesel?
Several restaurants and shops, including a well-stocked Ace Hardware store, were within walking distance. The Mexican place, Mariachi's, had a great lunch special with more food than I could eat; my lunch with an iced tea cost less than $10. Where can you get a table service meal at that price these days?
Highly recommended for a relaxing stay. I'll be back.

With all the great reviews, we had high expectations for Belhaven Marina. Our experience wasn't entirely positive. It was our first time at the marina and nobody really help us to dock. It was a cold day, but there was no lounge to sit in. There were only two bathrooms and by the time we got to take a shower, there were no clean towels left. They did give us a small discount as we were on the new dock without water or electricity. We had a good meal in a Mexican restaurant nearby.

10 stars! Greg was so helpful and friendly! He has done a lot to make this marina a must-stop location on the ICW. Shower/bath house was immaculate.
Fully stocked with towels, shampoo, etc. Grab a chair and a $3 beer in the marina office and visit for a bit. Make sure you get the t-shirt/koozie/drink bundle ;)
Docks are in good shape, but a little bit of a hop to get off the boat. Just be patient and watch your step. The fuel line comes right to your slip.

Belhaven Marina is a good marina, and they seem to be trying real hard to please, but they have a couple of things that need some attention to get it to 5 stars. We'll get to that shortly. First the good stuff:
The dock hands were very helpful getting us tied up in a strong westerly wind on the east side of the dock so that is a big plus.
Beer ($3.00) and wine in the marina office. Hat's off to whoever thought of that!
Bathrooms have some interesting decor, and are functional and clean.
Town is close by. A good hardware store, a couple of galleries, and it looks like they are also building a couple more storefronts out of one of the buildings. The whole town in one block! Rest of town is houses which mostly are nice turn of the century structures.
Two restaurants: Spoon River, which tries too hard to be "upscale". Puts out a good presentation, and the food is good, but they are expensive for what it is. Fish Hooks is home cooked meal, basic fare at a reasonable price. Ice cream store across the street is also a winner.
Now the downside: Laundry is free, but no AC in that room. It wasn't real hot when we were there, but I can't imagine being in that room on a hot summer day. And they left a gallon of bug spray sitting in the laundry tub. Bad sign!!
Dock is old and not level. It seems sturdy enough, except for the last section by the yard, but you can tell it's been there a while. Could use some new wood and leveling.
Bugs! The power pedestals are on the land side of the dock, so they run the power cable under a hinged dock board. Dirt and wet rotted boards underneath breed bugs. Ants used the power cable as a bridge to the boat and we spent most of the day getting rid of the little critters. That's a big downer. Not sure how to get around this, but last thing a boater needs is bugs on the boat. My solution was to let part of the power cord hang in the water to interrupt the bridge. That and some ant bait from the hardware store seemed to have done the trick.
All in all, in a pinch I'd go there again. But given a choice, I'd choose another marina.

This is a fantastic Marina!!! Gregg the owner is hands down the nicest, most helpful guy we have came across on the ICW. The marina has a quaint small town vibe with everything you could want, and if they don't have Gregg will help you find it! Town is just across the street and all the local shops have a such great customer service! Owner at Marker 32 boutique offered to post our letters because there was no mailbox in the area. The shop next door is Nifty Picks and Dilly Jeans has great repurposed Levi shorts and jeans! Such a cool concept and she was awesome to my bored husband, offering him a cold beer while I was shopping!!! The coolest restaurant, by far is the farm to table Spoon River! Do not miss eating here! Eclectic interior, excellent wait staff and delicious cocktails, food and desserts!!! As my husband's grandpa used to say "mark the curb" cause you need to remember to come back to this place

Another great visit at the Belhaven Marina. Gregg is a true professional who goes the extra mile to ensure top notch service. Easy in and out with fuel at the dock. Belhaven Marina is our top choice for dockage in Belhaven area. We'll be back soon.

Owner and staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable. Free laundry facilities, nice outdoor area to relax in. Open area where dog could run. Also within walking distance to stores and restaurants downtown. Fuel directly at the slip.

A gem of a marina with lots of personality and charm. Wonderful hospitality, great location right in downtown. Hands down the best bath and (free) laundry facilities on the AICW. Recommend Spoon River restaurant, but note is only open Wed-Sun.

Belhaven Marina has just about everything you could ask for; In-slip fueling; easy walking distance to a good old-fashioned hardware store with everything you might need, or just up the street for incredible southern farm-to-table cuisine; friendly people; towing and near-by repair services readily available. Most importantly -- Dockmaster Greg is there to make everyone from guests to crew welcome with prompt personal service. He'll even make your dinner reservations! It's a small local marina, but they could set the standard for many larger operations! Be sure to call ahead.
Another great stay. Thanks again, Greg.

Basic marina, really nice service with the omni-present Greg (harbormaster) to help you. About as "walk-to-everything" as you can get in Belhaven NC. A couple of really good restaurants and a pub within a 200 yard walk of the harbor. Fueling is "in-slip" - which reduces the need for maneuvering. Pump outs are at the city docks just west - and require a $5 token from the Ace Hardware in town.
Service was really super - we had several odd questions and specific things we needed to do, and the folks at BHM really stepped up to assist. Free laundry, clean toilets and showers. And location - you just can't beat that!

Fun and funky Marina located in the heart of Belhaven. Bathrooms are clean and private and laundry room is clean and free. WIFi worked well. Enjoyed use of the gazebo to chill off the boat. Town is within walking distance with several restaurants. Construction of a Seawell on the adjacent property was my only complaint. It was loud during daylight hourrs and lots of dust. It will soon be over

We loved this marina. Was not at all what I was expecting. Staff is great. Dock hand made us dinner reservations before we even got off the boat. Don't miss eating at River Spoon. Asked dock hand what time they opened and his response was: "What time do you need me here." Doesn't get anymore customer service than that! Got us out and walked over to the pump out station the next morning to help us get going. Will stay here again for sure.

The Belhaven Marina is a great little marina with a lot of southern charm. The attention to detail on the grounds he is very good and the staff is very accommodating Dockmaster Greg and Mick both went out of your way to meet our every need. The docs are fixed but with large fender balls for a cushioned berth. The town of Belhaven is just a few steps away with several good restaurants and meny historic homes. The dock are off the river and a fixed long-wall with plenty of depth and large fender balls along the long wall assure your boat will be in a secure birth. There was plenty of depth at the dock and power and water were available. We had initially thought we would just stay one night we decide to stay the entire weekend. The town park next-door provided a free jazz concert Saturday night and Mike from the marina played an open mic session himself which was very nice even if it was sparsely attended. There are several great restaurants available including spoon River and a little café that serves a great breakfast. If you're looking for a good place to stop Belhaven is certainly a good option and if they would happen to be full River Forest marina also a good option just a few hundred feet further from the downtown.

The Belhaven marina is a small town marina with a whole lotta charm. The grounds are excellent in terms of comfort and Greg and Mic made every attempt to accommodate our every need. There was plenty of water at the dock, which are fixed but with large balls on a long wall that ensure your boat will not be damaged. There is a town park next door, which last night had a two hour jazz concert followed by Mike the Dockmaster putting on his own open mic concert which was great. There are walkable restaurants and historic homes that can be explored. Would we come here again on our next trip through t- he answer is definitely yes. We are a 47 foot 70,000 pound Trawler and the marina was easy and easy out with not much current and or tide to contend with.
We initially thought we would stay one night but decided to stay for the entire weekend.
There is also another Marina very close - River Forest that looks quite accommodating too.

Gregg is the best! Seemed like he was always there to lend a hand (and sneak a treat to the doggo).
As others have said, its all bulkhead tie but the marina provides ample ball fenders. If its blowing hard from the southeast through southwest, you're going to be rocked unless you can get moved 'back' along the wall a bit.
Clean and uniquely decorated restrooms, gas grills, small putting green and loads of 'common areas' to socialize all help to make this a great stop.

If you get a chance, this is a very unique marina. The owners have made it a very friendly place to stop. It is bulkhead tie. This is interesting as you can fuel at your tie up for the night. Good Wifi, and easy walk to downtown. A great interesting restaurant right on the main street. Worth the trip. Watch your depth if you go in the west side of the pier.

Great service from staff with help getting in and out,
They had us right on the end of the bulkhead wall, wave slap from a SW wind made a miserable night. Moving us 10' in (the bulkhead was empty) would have made all the difference.
Bring big fenders for the bulkhead tieup.

We have been to marina on five or six different occasions . Each visit is consistently the same. Wonderful facilities, cleanest bathrooms and great service . Can refuel your boat where you are docked. Gregg is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to make your visit enjoyable. The town is quiet, friendly and safe and a great place to walk. We enjoy each trip and make it our favorite destination marina. We use this marina as our benchmark when comparing other marinas.

Service is great here and most everything is OK. Because of Covid maybe, most of the restaurants are closed and the town is pretty closed up. They have a terrific system to fuel you at your slip. Lights at night are very bright and unshielded shining in your boat. Some broken-down docks probably from storm damage.

Great small marina. The dockmaster is very pleasant and helpful. Easy in and out, docks are all facedocks. Wonderful restrooms & showers - best I've seen in the eastern US and Caribbean. They did a great job of decorating and supplies are great, including towels! There's a putting green, various lawn games, and a great setup for having a drink and chatting with dockmates. Very well thought out. We've eaten at both Spoon River and The Tavern at Jack's Neck - both just a block away. Great little town for walking, many attractive houses. Don't miss it!

Dockmaster Gregg was helpful with tips about the small town of Belhaven-- even made our restaurant reservations. Owner Brad came to the boat to welcome us and offered appreciation of our visit! That doesn't often happen! Every piece of the property was well maintained-- even the gazebo has nice comfortable furniture. Town has a couple nice restaurant choices and a hardware store less than a block from the marina.

We had a great stay here! Gregg is incredibly nice and helpful, and even drove me to Food Lion and picked me up! The laundry is clean and free, with detergent provided. The bathroom is also spotless, with fresh towels and fun nautical photos and memorabilia decorating the walls. They have great plans for expansion and adding a fuel dock. The marina is tucked in off of the river, so despite high winds and waves, we were well protected.

The other reviewers have nailed it perfectly. This is a hidden gem, well worth the visit! Greg is a superstar, nothing less. How many marina showers are not only spotless, but provide you with fresh clean towels and shampoo? Dockage is currently alongside a long dock, but expansion is imminent. And once again, Gregg is "Mr Customer Service...no task too bothersome or declined". A fine boating haven with a fine and attentive staff. I need a couple more stars to rate this quaint little place!!
