Rod 'N' Reel Resort Marina

Even though we reserved our slip via Snag-A-Slip month's in advance, with associated confirmations, when I called the marina four days before our arrival to check on our slip assignments, we were told they were under new management and had no visibility of any reservation. Upon arrival, we were informed that, regardless of what their resort description said on Snag-A-Slip, we were not entitled to use their pool and other amenities. Fortunately, we didn't took no for an answer and ultimately were aloud use of the pool. A subsequent letter to the resort owner yielded no response. Unfortunately, it is doubtful that we will ever return, nor in good consensus can I recommend this marina.

The pool wasn’t open yet and we were told a few weeks prior that it was already open. The electric at the slips is problematic causing us to move slips. Then the new slip only had 1 operable 30amp plug which could only use one AC on a 90* day. The young fella that works there was helpful but the marina needs a little work.

A bit unorganized. Put my boat in an extra large slip that was almost too big for our boat. Had to modify how we tie up the boat and the dockhand just stood there. Didn’t tie any lines up as we had to do it ourselves. Had to tell them to pull on a line to make sure my boat didn’t hit. Didn’t need any electric or water as we stayed at the hotel. Be prepared to handle everything yourself until they get some training or maybe initiative to help.

No one there to answer radio, we had to find somewhere to dock on our own. Docks were very dirty, looks like they have never been washed. The harbor was full of oil shine.

We had to carry our bags so far away from hotel. No shuttle or carts at marina. Dock has had no clue how to tie a line . Wish we knew our slip before we got there pretty sure not going back there

Bathroom facilities are located in public restroom of hotel a good distance from dock. Showers have no privacy at all, no hooks for clothes, no benches. Dock hands were helpful.

No dockhands for help with tying up. Although we requested 50 amp power, only 30 amp was available due to construction; we were not notified beforehand.

Good place. Well protected.Food was good. But no 50Amp service or shower facilities. Laundry was at the hotel on the 3rd floor. Not really convenient.

Full season rate applied but very few activities available at that time of the year. Resort was partially under construction. In addition, the marina is not well protected from the swell coming from the east.

Stayed there two seasons age and the parking lot construction was just being started. Place needed upgrading. some areas still under construction. Now docks have been redone with composite decking which is really nice. We were met by two very helpful marina hands who made docking and tying up a breeze. Food at the Tavern, 1936 Bar and Grill, and the Rod N Reel restaurant was really good. Basin needs dredging as most inside slips are only ones where transients can stay and as the charter boats, crabbers leave in AM you hear them and the slap of the water. That and the lack of privacy in the showers (in the Hotel lobby) are the only reason it does not get 5 stars.

Brian was awesome as always! He was so helpful in getting me a last minute reservation for my boat slip in the perfect location to watch the Bruno Mars Tribute Band Concert!

Very friendly staff. Good facilities. Restaurant was awesome. Biggest complaint is crab boats. We were in X21 slip for 2 nights. Crab boats completely disregard the speed limit cominin and out of the channel. Their wakes were slamming our boat in the dock because of that. Need to have better control throught the channel.

The facilities have the potential to be great but they were in rough condition during our visit. The docks were in good shape though. We also saw 2.3ft under out prop leaving at low tide. Important to note: If E/NE winds, avoid staying on the pier right as you enter the marina channel. It may be easy to get into but we were in the first slip and were tossed most of the night by waves/wind blowing straight up into the channel. There is a breaker wall that does protect the rest of the slips though. Cute town but be sure to walk /bike into Northeast Beach Town as well. Great Boardwalk along with dining options.

Marina is nice, still under renovation. The slip I was assigned to was too narrow and a tight fit for a 15ft boat and the depth was very shallow at low tide on the inside slips. I was told that the outside slips are deeper but then the harbor traffic is heavy at times and a lot of boats don’t watch their wakes!

Was a great place the marina office was hard to find and the phone number I was sent in the confirmation email didn't work. Once I got the right number I was transferred around & spoke with marina office he said email was down but gave me a slip number to find and the numbers are on top of the pier not facing you. Overall, not a horrible trip, water is super shallow I was kicking up mud when I got there , tide was out and the fuel dock was not working which would have been nice to know when they sent me confirmation email. I would go back again without a doubt - boaters just have to time the arrival and departure with the tides

The marina staff gave me detailed approach information for entering the marina from the Chesapeake Bay and positioned a dockhand at my slip to identify where the slip was and to help secure my boat.

Chesapeake Beach. Bandshell on the beach with Caribbean Chiller's Jimmy Buffet tribute was great. Really made our stay memorable. Lots of area construction going on so walking to North Beach is a bit of a hassle. Marina is more industrial and 'city' vs resort with grounds for grilling and walking. Restaurant on site is ok. Pool is indoor at onsite hotel. Dock power is 208v so our 240v boats could not run their AC units. Marina office manager, Heather was great - very professional, knowledgeable and helpful.
