We were docked on E dock. Our weekend was filled with nonstop charter groups, very loud music blasting from charter boats at all hours of the night, our boat was almost hit several times by charters coming in and out of the slip next to us, the dock was a cluttered mess with chairs, bikes, gas cans, generators, hookah pipes, and various other stuff. Trash cans were always overflowing due to charter boat trash and I am fairly certain we witnessed several drug deals on the dock. We’ve visited this marina several times over the years and this by far has been our worst experience.

Over holiday weekends, we do experience increased foot traffic from charters. The music should have been turned off by 11:00 p.m. in accordance with our quiet time policy, and we regret that this was not enforced properly. We will ensure that our security team addresses this more effectively in the future. As for your concerns about inappropriate behavior on the docks, we want to clarify that while marijuana use is legal in D.C. and boaters are permitted to smoke on their vessels, we have a zero-tolerance policy for any illegal activities, and we are confident that no such incidents occurred. Lastly, we understand your concerns about trash collection. We did our best to manage the increased volume over the weekend, and while it was cleared each morning, we apologize for any disruption this caused during the night. No answer in channel 16…ever. Phone calls went to voice mail. No assistance docking or with power. Only one of two power outlets worked. Charter boats all around me, one drifted into my boat while loading guests.

We apologize about the boater having difficulty reaching the marina and experiencing trouble with the onsite power. The boater arrived during our lunch hour but when our staff returned, we spoke with the customer several times. We were not made aware of any power issues during the customer's stay. We hope to welcome this boater back to our marina in the future for an improved experience.

We tried calling the dockmaster by phone and on VHF for over a half hour when we arrived. Never picked up by phone, never picked up by VHF. We docked temporarily. A slip holder saw us and came over. He directed us to an open/empty slip he thought we could use. We docked and continued to try to contact the dock master with no success. We didn't have the gate code to get back in should we leave the marina. He reluctantly gave us his and said do not share it for security reasons of course. We stayed Friday night and Saturday night and never heard from the dock master even though we continued to call and go up to the office, which was locked up. We wanted to get a pump out when we left but since there was no dockmaster we didn't know what to do. The marina is nice, the area is nice, not sure we'll come back though.

The yards location is excellent and the floating concrete docks are solid & stable, snag a slip showed no availability but a phone call discovered a transient slip after all. BUT things went downhill from there: I phoned the Dockmaster, he didn’t know I was coming, no slip assignment. Told to call on VHF 16 on arrival. Radioed 15 minutes later- crickets. Finally, after several phone calls, a slip was assigned and a helpful man who takes care of the freedom boat fleet helped with our lines. Dockmaster is not on site and just watches the video feeds of the docks. The gangplank entrances were piled high with garbage - 2 & 3 days after July 4th. The water around the floaters was a disgusting mess of floating debris, plastic garbage & flotsam. Apparently this is acceptable & normal on the Anacostia River. The washrooms (2 unisex) are clean, code accessed but basic and the individual doors don’t lock! The single shower has additional code access but appears not to be air conditioned.

We apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay, as our staff was managing a high volume of guests and requests during the busy July 4th period. Regarding the communication and slip assignment, we apologize for any perceived delay. Our scheduled dockhand called out unexpectedly on July 5th. This reservation was made shortly before the boater arrived at the marina, and our team did provide a slip assignment when the boater called in. As we were unexpectedly short staffed, we asked the Freedom Boats team on site to assist with tying this boater up on arrival. Our team members do their best to handle these situations efficiently, and apologize if we fell short here. Regarding the bathrooms and shower facilities, please note that an external company is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of these areas.  The doors do lock and shut, but sometimes need an extra push. The shower facilities are not air conditioned.  We understand your concerns about the garbage and debris around the gangplank entrances and in the water. We acknowledge that the trash situation was not up to our usual standards. With our team member calling out, the cleanup was incomplete on July 5th. However, our General Manager personally addressed this issue the next day, and ensured that the remaining trash was taken care of promptly. We would like to mention that managing the trash and debris in the river is an ongoing challenge for us and other marinas along the Anacostia River, especially after storms. We understand your frustration, and while we make efforts to keep the area clean, it requires continuous attention.  We appreciate your understanding and patience in these matters. We are committed to continuously improving our services and facilities to provide a better experience for all boaters. We hope you will give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future.

Great location and nice marina. But I could not give a higher rating because of the excessive trash and debris in the marina. The Anacostia River still needs a lot of work to get cleaned up.

The new manager was very helpful and the location is a convenient walk to the ballpark. The marina however is cluttered with litter collecting around the boats in the slips which is frankly disgusting.

We stayed at the Yards for over a month as we had a wedding to attend to. The time we were at the marina were excellent. The marina is easy access from the Potomac (slack tide recommended, but not required) great area with restaurants, sports (Nationals, United (MLS)) and easy walking/Uber to the Capitol and National Mall! Also easy in and out to Ronald Reagan! Marina itself was secure, the manager was extremely helpful and available. We recommend this marine for short and long term!!

Promptly met by friendly Dockmaster. New security gate with easy access. Bathrooms clean. Power infrastructure relatively new. Location perfect to catch a Nats game via riverside boardwalk. Plenty of bars, restaurants and coffee shops within a few blocks. Peaceful neighborhood. Great stay.

Hard to get hold of someone to get slip assignment. Also, Marina was quite messy with unsightly debris and no bathrooms or shower (or amenities of any kind for that matter) you'd expect in a Downtown DC site.

We had a great stay! We also stayed over the Easter weekend and everyone was so friendly and welcoming we decided to come back. The area has so much to offer, and everything is walking distance. Very dog friendly location, we will be back for sure!

The attendant was very helpful. He assisted us with guiding us to the slip with his radio then assisted us with tying the lines and then hooking up the power cable. Excellent service. The marina was excellent, our slip was excellent. Unfortunately the water was full of debris everywhere. Plastic bottles and wood branches and logs and wood pieces. It was bad. Perhaps the team could scope up some of the debris. It looked terrible.

Everything was great except for no shore power. We spent the night and had to run our generator all night. We were told their electrical system was sensitive to certain vessels including mine. We were told it happen to another boat at the same slip the week before. We were discounted $30. Other than that, it was perfect.

Thank you for your review and for staying with The Yards Marina. Our marina's power pedestals use an Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter due to new electrical code requirements requiring greater ground fault protection in marinas. As a result, some vessels may not be compatible with our shore power systems. We do our best to accommodate all vessels under this situation and proactively issued a power fee refund in this case. We hope to welcome you back to our marina soon!

Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. While I did not need help docking, the staff was literally running to aid several customers. Marina was safe and secure. Docks were untidy and much trash and debris in water. Restrooms were okay on cleanliness but shower was a mess. I plan to return for another future stay but marina could use some tidying up.

Coordination was great and we were met on arrival by the manager, Peter Curcio. Well maintained floating docks and nice location for our two beagles as there is ample space for them to enjoy. On Sat/Sun the garbage had not been picked up for several days and was a mound of refuse. Also, the gate was broken and since Sunday (it’s now Tuesday) the place has been without any staff. When Peter showed up Tuesday all was set in order… garbage picked up, gate repaired, and Peter assisting with pump out/departure. Perhaps all they need is some help on the weekend but otherwise a great marina

Restrooms are open to the public which is not ideal and should be restricted to those using the marina. The restrooms were clean, but smelled of sewage. I'm not sure the marina could do anything about that issue. I used the head on my boat most of the time so it was not an issue for me.

Great location. Floating docks are great. Dock master - Peter - is very helpful and accommodating. The park & restaurants nearby and the metro are the best. Fair price. Only complaint are the bathrooms/shower needs to be renovated and improved and the trash/flotsam accumulation in the water in the slips is bad. Also lots of helicopter noise - but that’s not in the marina’s control. Would definitely stay again again however.

Had a great experience at the marina and Peter the manager was very professional. He called the morning before arrival with slip information and was ready at the slip to assist with docking electric hookup. Lots of restaurants and nice boardwalk. The docks were clean but there is a terrible problem with trash gathering up in each slip. It’s. It not really something that the dock master or the crew has control over but there has to be some sort of a trash collection device the corporate can purchase for the staff to correct the problem.

Need to make pump-out more accessible. I had to go to James Creek Marina to get pumped out. Large yacht docked close to pump-out made it a tight squeeze but Dingy on portable dock blocked actual access. Other than above comment The Yards is a very well run marina.

FYI- I have given the marina the opportunity to fix this issue prior to my review but have received no response. The slip I was given was full of garbage causing my AC to cut out twice during the evening and my having to open the hatch and clean out the filter during the middle of the night. There were additional slips further out on the dock that were not occupied, we complained about the trash and were not offered these slips. I understand the garbage is not completely within their control but for $100 a night they should provide a slip free or garbage or alert boaters to the condition of the marina before accepting the reservation. I had a similar issue here earlier this season. The wharf is looking like a value at this point.

We were sorry to read this review and that this boater was unhappy with their stay. We have connected with this boater regarding their experience, to go through the review and to get feedback for improvement. It is a shame that debris ended up in the slip, resulting in a poor experience. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, many local rivers and tributaries are experiencing an increase in debris. Consequently, we do have some debris floating in and out of slips. While we aim to remove debris as we see it, we missed some in this case. The boater asked to be relocated further down the dock to a different set of slips, but unfortunately there were no other available transient slips on that dock. The open slips referred to in this review are held under annual contracts. We did offer the boater an option to move docks into open transient slips that were free of debris, however the boater chose to stay in their original spot, near a friend. We are happy to report that this issue has been solved offline and that the boater plans to return to The Yards in the future. We look forward to welcoming this vessel back to our docks so that we can deliver the great experience that all boaters deserve.

Brian and his crew were extremely helpful and courteous. If it would not have been for them I would have given a lower rating. We were extremely disappointed in the bathhouse. The bathrooms were being shared/used by the club next door in the evening. There was a line of people waiting to use the facilities. The next morning when we went back the bathrooms were disgusting and unacceptable.

The dock hands were very helpful.The shower area needs an exhast fan and a shelf and hooks to hang your stuff. There is no where to put your things in the shower except on the sink or on the floor.

Brand new Marina. Two blocks on Yards waterfront walkway to Nats Stadium. Outstanding staff. Secure with dock gate code from Dockmaster . Wonderful floating docks. Easy approach in Anacostia R., DC.
