NYC Views from Pier 25 Marina | New Marinas Added | Snag-A-Slip

March has been understandably crazy for everyone, but we are so excited to welcome two new marinas added to the Snag-A-Slip family – just in time to start dreaming of future trips! These two destinations may be nearly 2,000 miles apart, but both offer fun and excitement you won’t want to miss out on. Here is everything we love about our two new partners in Lakeway, Texas and New York, New York!

Rough Hollow Yacht Club

Lakeway, Texas

Lakeway, Texas is located on Lake Travis, and this small town is known for its scenic natural beauty. Lake Travis is actually a man made reservoir in 1942 for flood prevention in the area, and is now used for all sorts of recreation from boating for fun to fishing for various species of bass. The restaurant decks that line the banks of the lake are the perfect place to grab a bite or drinks with friends and family to watch the sunset along the tree-line.

While docked on site, we recommend heading into town and going on adventures. In addition to great shops and restaurants in the downtown Lakeway area, the surrounding neighborhoods are home to trails, parks, and waterfalls that are a must visit while docked on Lake Travis. The Hamilton Greenbelts offer great hiking trails and beautiful views of waterfalls and rapids. Hamilton Pool Preserves looks like the coolest place for parents to relax and for the kids to play in the crystal clear waters of the limestone outcroppings and waterfalls.  There are a ton of other places to hike and enjoy the scenery of Lakeway, but if you’re looking to stay near the water, those destinations may be the best in town!

Rough Hollow Yacht Club is right off of Lake Travis in the Colorado River. This 250 slip marina resides in a little sheltered cove that offers protection from the elements and a quiet place to catch some RnR along the banks of the river. Most of the docks are also covered which is awesome to get you out of rain (or the sun for those who easily burn like us). The marina offers a variety of amenities including boat rentals, pump-out services and a fuel dock, lockers and bathhouses, parking, security, and even a restaurant on-site called Canyon Grille Rough Hollow! You can even rent paddle boards and kayaks to enjoy the river. If you’re looking to stay dockside, the Yacht Club has a 4,000 square foot pavilion perfect for hanging out and enjoying time on the water, while not being “on” the water.  Rough Hollow Yacht Club also offers guests access to the resort-style fitness center and infinity pool. This marina can really be your home away from home for an enjoyable vacation or a simple stop on a longer journey you have planned.

Pier 25 Marina

New York, New York

The city that never sleeps is the perfect place for those looking for a fun-filled and exciting vacation. There are obviously plenty of things to do in the city, and with a quick trip on the subway, the world is your oyster. Pier 25 Marina is located in the heart of Tribeca – so our team found fun things to do in south Manhattan.

For us, the first thing that comes to mind when someone says Tribeca is the Tribeca film festival which happens annually and showcases independent films. However, there are plenty of things to do throughout the year. There are a ton of great restaurants and shops, a few notable being Terroir Tribeca, Gotan, and fun boutique speciality shops such as the Mysterious Bookshop. You can even visit the iconic Ghostbuster fire station headquarters featured in the movies! Tribeca also hosts the World Trade Center memorials and Freedom Tower. Tribeca is a beautiful neighborhood in Manhattan featuring early-American architecture and cobblestone streets – so you may just want to take a stroll and enjoy the area.

Pier 25 Sailing Course | New Marinas Added | Snag-A-Slip

Pier 25 is possibly one of the coolest places to dock in NYC – this is truly a happening place to be! This is the longest pier in the Hudson River Park that features an 18-hole miniature golf course, volleyball courts, playgrounds with turf lawns, a snack bar, and you guessed it, our new marina partner Pier 25 Marina! The marina has 30 moorings that can accommodate vessels up to 38 feet and floating docks that are available to boaters for pick-ups and drop-offs. From the marina, you can charter nearly any type of vessel for fishing, sailing, or simply cruising around New York Harbor. You can even attend sailing school on-site hosted by the American Sailing Association. There is even a renowned restaurant on-site called Grand Banks, which is an oyster bar on a history wooden schooner! How much cooler can this area of NYC get? You are also just south of Chelsea which features the really amazing Chelsea Market and the New York Highline park. Docking at Pier 25 Marina really puts you in the heart of it all.

While weathering out the current storm, plan a dream itinerary that includes one or both of these new marinas in your future plans!

Please note: At the time of publishing, due to the rapidly changing situation from the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the United States, the marina(s) mentioned in this blog post may already be temporarily closed or will close temporarily due to limitations in place by local government authorities.

If you need any assistance making a future reservation or altering an existing reservation, please email hello@snagaslip.com.
