The Cambridge Classic is back for another crazy race! Cambridge, Maryland is hosting the 109th Annual Cambridge Classic Powerboat Regatta! Cruise on over to one of our favorite small towns on the Chesapeake Bay to catch all the action!
Back for its 109th year, this event is a staple of Cambridge, Maryland. The event will take place May 18th and 19th on the Choptank River. The race will start at approximately 10:30am and will run all day until 5pm.
The fleet ranges from the classic Jersey speed skiffs turning on their sides and going airborne at 70mph, to the 1,500-horsepower grand prix boats that reach speeds of 170 mph. Admission is FREE with a $5/day charge for in/out parking. There are bleachers available for spectators as well as room for lawn chairs if you want to bring your own. Food and drink will also be available so make sure you bring cash; there are no outside coolers allowed. Souvenir T-shirts are available for purchase to remember the awesome event.
The races for the Cambridge Classic Powerboat Regatta are scheduled to run rain or shine, although if the wind is strong, the race organizers will make the call. The backup date for the Cambridge Classic is July 27-28 2019.
There are also multiple places to dock around the area. First up is the Cambridge Yacht Basin. You can even watch the race from you slip! This marina puts you in the heart of downtown Cambridge, so you can spend your evening exploring the quaint small town. Another marina close by is the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa, and Marina. This full service, resort styled marina offers everything you need to enjoy a getaway weekend in addition to watching the Cambridge Classic.
